Miami won't win championship
The Miami Heat are not going to win this year's NBA championship, but it's not for the reasons people think. Lebron James in the second game against the Boston Celtics showed shades of last year's late game pressure against Dallas.
Miami did end up winning the game and James did contribute with a tip-in and an excellent pass, both in overtime. However, after missing the last shot in regulation, James also missed two free throws in the early part of OT. Was the pressure of performing in a tight game and memories of Dallas starting to play games with James?
If Dwayne Wade had the ball in his hands for the last shot of regulation, he no doubt would have drove to the basket instead of settling for a jumper as James did. Why James chose to run out the clock and settle for the jumper is unknown, but one has to wonder if James was feeling the pressure at the end of regulation.
To be fair James has hit some big shots in playoff games mot notably last year against Chicago in the Eastern Conference finals. But being in position, and against a much smaller defender, for a tip-in does not qualify as pressure enacted play. Tip-ins are reactionary plays.
James wants to be loved and he wants to be put on the pedestal with NBA stars of yesterday and today. He teams might win a championship before his career is over but until he makes the last second shot in a championship game James will not enter the world of Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Kobe Bryant, and his teams will not win multiple titles as the before mentioned stars did.
